OMAHA (DTN) -- Continued dry conditions in much of South America, and a mild trend in the Midwest, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

MILD MIDWEST PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a generally mild and dry pattern over the Midwest through the balance of the week. Temperatures are indicated to be above normal for the next 10 days, which will assist with snow melt and allow some draining of excess soil moisture. A possible strong storm in the six-to-10-day period will be closely watched for a new round of heavy rain.

STORMS FOR SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, heavy rain is indicated for the southern sector of the region through Wednesday. The remainder of the region will see only light precipitation. A storm system early next week could produce more moderate widespread precipitation.

WARM IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, above normal temperatures through the end of the week will allow snowmelt and soil moisture drainage. Light mixed precipitation will occur but will not be problematical. Prospects for moderate-to-heavy precipitation early next week will be closely watched.

CONTINUED DELTA STORMS

The Delta continues to be the target of heavy rain and severe storms. Several round of moderate-to-heavy rain are expected through early Thursday, especially over the southern half of the region. The rain will keep soils saturated and disrupt fieldwork. Another strong storm could bring additional heavy rain to the area next week.

DRY BRAZIL PATTERN

The Brazil crop weather pattern features rain in northeastern areas and drier conditions elsewhere during the next week. Dry conditions in central Brazil favor soybean harvest, but additional moisture is needed to maintain growth and development of safrinha corn.

MORE ARGENTINA DRYNESS

Argentina remains dry, with a higher risk of stress to filling corn and soybeans. Stress will increase due to conditions turning very warm to hot. Isolated showers start to become possible on Friday.

WARM AND DRY IN BLACK SEA REGION

Russia and Ukraine have a very warm and dry pattern in store through the next week. Temperatures are expected to average 15 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit above normal. Soils may dry quickly with this combination.
