OMAHA (DTN) -- Beneficial rain in southern Argentina, and favorable harvest conditions in Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Thursday.

DRIER MIDWEST TREND

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a drier trend in the Midwest through the next 10 days. Highest precipitation chances are in the Ohio Valley south into the Delta. Drier conditions are needed across the region to improve conditions for planting this spring.

BENEFICIAL SOUTHERN PLAINS MOISTURE

In the Southern Plains, beneficial moisture in the form of moderate to heavy snow occurred earlier this week. The moisture, along with moderating temperatures, will favor winter wheat. Livestock stress due to the snow will be limited.

MILD WEEKEND IN NORTHERN PLAINS

Across the Northern Plains, light snow will cross the region Thursday and Friday. Well-above normal temperatures continue for at least the next five days. A colder pattern is indicated in the six-to-10-day time frame. However, a repeat of the bitter-cold wave of 2019 is not forecast.

BENEFICIAL BRAZIL PATTERN

Across Brazil, generally favorable weather conditions remain in effect for filling soybeans and full-season corn. The trend is also mostly favorable for harvesting soybeans and planting safrinha corn and cotton following the soybean harvest in west-central Brazil.

SHOWERS IN SOUTHERN ARGENTINA

Argentina crop areas have mostly favorable weather for pollinating and filling corn and developing and filling soybeans in the major central growing areas. The southern portion of the region had midweek showers and thunderstorms, offering some useful crop moisture.

STILL MILD IN BLACK SEA REGION

In the Black Sea region, temperatures continue to be above normal, with no cold wave expected through the coming week.
