NATIONAL TEMPERATURE/RAINFALL EXTREMES:

HIGH MON...98 AT ANAHEIM CA

LOW MON..-1 AT PIKES PEAK CO

24 HOUR RAINFALL ENDING AT 7 PM YESTERDAY…LITTLE ROCK AR 2.24 INCHES

US OUTLOOK AND MODEL DISCUSSION 6-10 DAY PERIOD:

The US and European models are in fair-poor agreement during the outlook period. We are going with the European model. The large scale pattern will feature a trough extending from the Rockies to the Midwest. And a ridge over the eastern US and western atlantic. The central US will be in the boundary zone between these two features which implies an active precipitation pattern.

Temperatures will be cooler the further to the west you are in the central US, milder the further to the east.

MAJOR WORLD HIGHLIGHTS/IMPACT:

MIDWEST (CORN, SOYBEANS): Unfavorably wet weather for maturing and harvesting corn and soybeans is expected to continue.

NORTHERN PLAINS: Unfavorably wet weather for maturing and harvesting corn and soybeans continues. Some harvest losses due to snow and strong winds are expected.

CENTRAL/SOUTHERN PLAINS: Mostly favorable conditions for prewinter development of wheat. Some beneficial precipitation is expected during the 6-10 day period.

BRAZIL (Soybeans): Some beneficial rain and cooler temperatures in Mato Grosso and Parana at this time for planting and developing soybeans.

ARGENTINA (CORN): More rain would benefit corn planting is some areas of central Argentina.

CANADIAN PRAIRIES (WHEAT/CANOLA/BARLEY): Drier weather in Alberta and Saskatchewan favors the canola and wheat harvests. However overall progress remains behind normal by 20 points in Alberta and nearly 30 points in Saskatchewan. Heavy rain/snow in Manitoba last week is unfavorable for the remaining harvest.

AUSTRALIA (WINTER WHEAT/SORGHUM/COTTON): Variable moisture conditions for winter wheat in West Australia. Reduced moisture supplies for reproductive winter wheat in South Australia and northern Victoria. More rain will be needed in the next few weeks to maintain current yield prospects. Scattered showers in New South Wales and Queensland came too late to benefit the wheat crop.

EXPANDED SUMMARIES FORECASTS:
