Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- A continued lack of freezing conditions in the central U.S. forecast, and a still-dry trend in central Brazil, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

MIDWEST AVOIDS FREEZE

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for the Midwest to have favorable soil moisture for filling corn and soybeans, with beneficial rainfall in some remaining dry areas this week. Near- to above-normal temperatures will favor crop development, which remains well behind normal in many areas. There is no damaging cold weather indicated for at least the next 10 days.

WET WEEK IN NORTHERN PLAINS

In the Northern Plains, moderate-to-heavy rain during this week will be unfavorable for maturing crops. Temperatures remain above freezing level, which will benefit delayed crops.

LIGHT SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, scattered rain showers will offer some soil moisture benefit for winter wheat planting.

PRAIRIES RAIN

Southern Canadian Prairies crop areas are in line for moderate-to-heavy rain during this week. These rains will keep late-developing crops lagging in their slow push toward maturity.

HOT AND DRY FOR CENTRAL BRAZIL

Ahead of the Sept. 15 soybean planting beginning in Brazil, central and northern Brazil crop areas remain hot and dry through the next 10 days. This will cause some delay in the onset of planting in these high-production areas.

VARIABLE EUROPE RAIN

Dryness is concerning for late-filling summer crops in western Europe, along with soil moisture for winter crop seeding. Moderate-to-heavy rainfall occurred during the past weekend from south and eastern Germany into east Europe but missed most of France. The outlook suggests mostly below normal rainfall during the next 10 days for western and central Europe.

STILL WARM AND DRY IN BLACK SEA REGION

In the Black Sea region, Russia and Ukraine continue with a warm and dry forecast this coming week. This combination is non-threatening to filling crops, but is leading to some drying of soils.

HEAVY INDIA MONSOON RAIN

Monsoon rain remains moderate to heavy for west-central and northern India crop regions. Heavy rain will cause some flooding.

CONTINUED DRY AUSTRALIA FORECAST

Australia wheat areas have continued dry conditions. This pattern is leading to reduced wheat crop prospects.
