Commodities Market Impact Weather
Still Slow Development
OMAHA (DTN) -- Continued slow crop development in the Midwest, and favorable later-season conditions in the Black Sea region, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.
FROST-FREE MIDWEST FORECAST
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for mostly favorable weather for filling and maturing corn and soybeans with no damaging cold weather indicated during the next 10 days. The percent at good to excellent of both crops is the lowest since 2013 and crop development remains well-behind normal.
SLOW NORTHERN PLAINS PROGRESS
The Northern Plains will have mostly favorable weather for filling and maturing corn and soybeans with no damaging cold indicated during the next 10 days. Crop development remains well-behind normal.
LIMITED SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN
In the Southern Plains, more rain is needed for the upcoming winter wheat planting season in some areas. Overall soil moisture conditions in the major growing areas are favorable; however, drier weather during the next seven days will deplete some of this moisture.
HURRICANE DORIAN TO HIT SOUTHEAST COAST

Category 3 Hurricane Dorian in the western Atlantic Ocean is forecast to bring damaging wind and storm surge to the southeast U.S. coast during the balance of this week. Most crop areas will be bypassed by the hurricane track, thus avoiding extensive damage.
WEEKEND PRAIRIES RAIN
Canadian Prairies' crop areas continue to have mild weather, with no frost, in the forecast through the next week to 10 days. Periods of rain are also indicated during the coming weekend through next week.
VARIABLE BRAZIL RAIN
Ahead of the mid-September soybean planting beginning, Brazil rainfall patterns are highly variable. Central and northern areas continue in the dry season. In contrast, southern areas have moderate-to-heavy rain forecast through the next week, offering favorable soil moisture when the planting date arrives.
COOL AND DRY IN EUROPE
Across Western Europe, filling summer crops continue to have some stress because of dry conditions. Rain is also needed ahead of winter grain and oilseed planting. Rainfall averages near to mostly below normal during the next five days, but may increase somewhat during the six-to-10-day period. Temperatures is expected to be mostly below normal.
WARM AND DRY IN BLACK SEA REGION
In the Black Sea region, Russia and Ukraine have a warm and dry pattern indicated through the next five days. This combination will generally favor crops in the filling stage.
CONTINUED INDIA MONSOON RAIN
Monsoon rain remains moderate to heavy for west-central and northern India crop regions.
DRY AGAIN IN EASTERN AUSTRALIA
Eastern Australia wheat areas will remain dry through the next five days. Wheat crop prospects have steadily been lowered in Australia due to dryness.
