Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- A mild weather pattern with no threat of a freeze, and indications of large crops in the Black Sea region, are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Tuesday.

FAVORABLE TEMPERATURE PATTERN

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for northern and central U.S. crop areas to remain frost-free through mid-September. This pattern is welcome because of the extensively delayed season. However, many areas still need a later-than-average first freeze for crops to reach maturity.

HURRICANE DORIAN TO HIT SOUTHEAST COAST

Category 3 Hurricane Dorian in the western Atlantic Ocean is forecast to bring damaging wind and storm surge to the southeast U.S. coast during the balance of this week. Most crop areas will be bypassed by the hurricane track, thus avoiding extensive damage.

WEEKEND PRAIRIES RAIN

Canadian Prairies' crop areas had some harvest delays during the past weekend due to rain. This week will be drier, with near-normal temperatures. No widespread freeze is forecast.

VARIABLE EUROPE MOISTURE

Across Europe, France continues to have below-normal rainfall. Other crop areas are faring better on precipitation ahead of winter grain planting.

FAVORABLE BLACK SEA GROWING SEASON

In the Black Sea region, prospects remain favorable for large grain crops in Ukraine and Russia. The next week offers above-normal temperatures and scattered rainfall.

ADDITIONAL INDIA MONSOON RAIN

Monsoon rain remains moderate to heavy for west-central and northern India crop regions.
